   How do estimates work?

   We look at the job in person, tell you what's actually wrong, and put a clear written price in front of you. No mystery line items, no pressure. Most estimates go out within about 48 hours of the visit.

   Can I just send photos instead?

   Yes — start there. A couple of phone pictures of the problem, plus one from farther back so we can see context, is usually enough to tell you what you're looking at and roughly what's involved. Anything we'd actually quote still gets seen in person first.

   What towns do you serve?

   Spencer, Charlton, Worcester, Millis, Milford, Medway, Natick, Framingham and surrounding towns across Worcester County and MetroWest. If you're just outside that, ask — we'll tell you honestly whether it makes sense.

   How soon can you start, and how long does a job take?

   It depends on the season and the size of the job. A chimney crown or a small repair is usually a day or two of work; a full-scaffold restoration runs considerably longer. We'll give you a realistic window when we quote, and we'll tell you if we're booked out rather than promising a date we can't hold.

   Do you work in the winter?

   Some work, yes. Mortar needs temperature to cure properly, so cold-weather jobs may need protection or may be better held to spring — and we'll say so rather than laying work that won't last. Anything unsafe gets addressed whenever it comes up.

   Can you match my old brick and mortar?

   That's a core part of what we do. We match the mortar mix to what the house was built with, and match brick size, color, and joint profile as closely as the material allows. When a perfect match isn't possible, we tell you before the work starts, not after.

   Why does matching the mortar matter so much?

   Old brick is softer than modern brick. If new mortar is harder than the brick, the brick becomes the weak point and faces start popping off. The mortar is supposed to be the sacrificial part. Hard mortar on a soft old house causes permanent damage that looks fine for the first couple of years.

   Do I need repointing or a full rebuild?

   If the joints have failed but the brick is still sound and the wall is straight, it's usually repointing. If brick faces are crumbling or the wall has moved, a section likely needs rebuilding. Often it's both in different areas — we scope only what's genuinely gone.

   Do you do concrete or poured work?

   No. We're a masonry outfit: brick, stone, block, and pavers. We don't pour concrete, waterproof foundations, or install drainage systems — and if your problem turns out to be one of those, we'll tell you straight instead of selling you the wrong fix.

    Do you do inspections?

    Yes — a $100 look-over with a short written report, and the $100 comes off the job if you hire us. Popular with home buyers.

    What does masonry work cost?

    In our area repointing typically runs $40 per square foot, small chimney repairs typically land between $500 and $1,500, and full chimney rebuilds typically run $3,000 to $10,000+. Every job is quoted in person, because access, height, joint depth, mortar matching, and how far the damage has spread all move the number. The cost guide explains what drives it.

    Are small jobs worth calling about?

    Yes. Loose front steps, a few open joints, one cracked chimney crown — small jobs are welcome, and catching something small is far cheaper than the version of it you'll be looking at in three years.

    How does payment work?

    Terms are set out in the written estimate before any work begins, so there are no surprises. Larger jobs are typically structured in stages tied to progress. We'll walk through it with you when you get the price.
