Scaffold set against a stone church during a restoration
Who You're Hiring

The Goodspeed standard.

Masonry done properly should outlast the person who built it. That's the whole idea behind how we work.

Goodspeed Masonry & Restoration is an owner-operated masonry outfit — Worcester County born and raised, based in Spencer, Massachusetts. The same hands that quote your job do the work. No crew handed off to, no salesperson between you and the person on the wall.

Built to outlast us

A wall laid correctly should still be standing long after everyone who touched it is gone. That's not a slogan — it's the standard the work is measured against. If a repair only holds until the warranty runs out, it wasn't done right.

Mortar matched to the house

Old houses were not built with modern mortar, and putting modern mortar on them breaks brick that can't be replaced. We match the mix to what the house was built with, match color and joint profile as closely as the material allows, and tell you up front when a perfect match isn't possible.

Materials chosen for New England

Everything here has to survive freeze and thaw, dozens of cycles a season. Material selection, joint depth, drainage, and pitch all get chosen with that in mind rather than with what's fastest. Here's what winter actually does to masonry.

Trained in the trade

Trained in the trade through four years of vocational school, then three years in the field — chimneys, repointing, facade restoration, wall rebuilds, foundations, and new brick and stone work, from small residential repairs up to full-scaffold restoration jobs.
